Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s journey in the Pakistan Army began at the Officers Training School in Mangla. Awarded the Sword of Honour for his performance as a cadet, he was commissioned into the Frontier Force Regiment.[1]

His career has spanned operational command, intelligence leadership, and senior military administration. He led the Force Command Northern Areas and commanded XXX Corps in Gujranwala, building experience across some of the Army’s most significant responsibilities.[1]

He assumed office as Pakistan’s 11th Chief of the Army Staff on 29 November 2022. On 20 May 2025, the government elevated him to Field Marshal, making him the second officer in Pakistan’s history to hold the rank.[2][3]
